Chapter 10 The Violet Diamond
Celeste kept her poker face and didn’t look at Nathaniel.
Amelia raised her paddle confidently, “Two hundred million.”
Nathaniel was puzzled–who was this woman casually upping the bid by a hundred million?
He didn’t want to lose the painting, knowing all the auction. items were hiding secrets.
Madelynn didn’t get the hype.
“Nate, it’s just a painting,” she said, trying to dissuade him.
But Nathaniel felt a strange familiarity with it, though he couldn’t place it.
The auctioneer was excited. He didn’t expect a simple landscape to go for two hundred million.
“Two hundred million going once, twice… Sold!”
With no more bids, he set the price.
Celeste smirked, seeing Nathaniel clueless about the

The auctioneer grinned, “Congrats to Bidder Twenty–Seven for winning the Rivers and Mountains!”

Meanwhile, Leon was thrilled; he’d bought it for just two thousand and now made two hundred million. He was ready
to celebrate big time.
Unbeknownst to him, it was actually worth billions–he’d regret it later.
Celeste sighed in relief, knowing there was a reason for the
auction.
Once again, her eyes were filled with sorrow and pain.
Celeste made up her mind – She wouldn’t let Elias’s death be
in vain.
The next auction item was a porcelain piece.
Celeste glanced at it, then at the overly smug Leon, smiling slyly. She knew he’d be in trouble later.
A few minutes later, an elite bought the porcelain for a hundred million.
Next up was the main attraction: a violet diamond.

It instantly grabbed everyone’s attention.
Celeste turned her gaze to the diamond,
It was large, set in a glass cylinder.
She could tell it was a real deal.

Still, Celeste had no idea what made it unique. She also wondered why her grandpa was so into it.
Among tonight’s auction items, the Rivers and Mountains. painting was worth billions.
She had been searching for it for six years, and now it had suddenly appeared before her.
Was this a trap or just a coincidence?
The auctioneer, barely containing his excitement, announced, “Tonight’s highlight: a pure violet diamond from the Lyvan Mountains. Starting bid: fifty million, no upper limit.”
The room buzzed with excitement.
Leon, grinning widely, lounged back, playfully saying to Nathaniel, “You’re here for the diamond, right? My earnings tonight depend on you.”

Then, he noticed Celeste, who seemed unfazed, possibly there for the diamond too.
Nathaniel and Celeste used to be a couple, but now, they were
rivals for the diamond.
So, Leon would earn a big pile of cash from the fuss.
Just thinking about it thrilled him.
Nathaniel glanced at the diamond, saying, “It looks okay,” but
soon focused on Celeste.
She was more beautiful and distant post–divorce, almost a stranger now.
He clenched his fists, surprised she didn’t return to her small–town life but went to Carter instead.
Leon teased, “Going all out for Maddie, huh? Found true love?”
His voice was loud enough for Celeste to hear.
Celeste kept her cool, even though his words felt like a knife to her heart.
So… Nathaniel was going after the violet diamond for

Madelynn:
Leon felt a bit let down by Celeste’s cool reaction.
In his eyes, her aloofness made her kind of dull, though she was very stunning.
Madelynn, on the other hand, was excited.

Once Nathaniel sealed the deal for her, she could flaunt the violet diamond as the token of their love.
Nathaniel’s eyes flickered, but he stayed silent as the bidding hit two hundred million.
“Nate, it’s your turn.” Leon nudged him eagerly.
