Chapter 11 The Auction Showdown
Nathaniel raised his paddle casually.
“Five hundred million.”
Celeste quickly followed him. “One billion dollars.”
Stunned, Nathaniel turned to look at her. “Celeste, do you
even know the rules of an auction?”
Topping the price by five hundred million dollars in one go-
she was indeed reckless!
Celeste met his gaze with a cold smile.
Her gaze was indifferent as if he were nothing more than a
stranger.
“There’s no price cap, isn’t there? So who’s the one not getting the rules?” She shot back.
Nathaniel frowned. “One point one billion dollars.“”
Celeste immediately raised the board. “Two billion!”
Just when Nathaniel was about to raise his paddle again, Leon.

“Note, if you keep going…
“Enough!” Nathaniel cut him off coldly. “Two point five billion!”
“Three billion!” Celeste’s response was swift.
The room fell silent as everyone turned their eyes toward Celeste, but all they could see was the elegant silhouette of her back.
Knowing that she did it on purpose, Nathaniel frowned.
As for Madelynn, she widened her eyes in astonishment, having no idea why Celeste was so reckless.
After all, she was just a country bumpkin.
Where would she get that much money?
In no time, Celeste became the center of attention.
She managed to steal the spotlight while it was supposed to be Madelynn’s moment of glory.
Earlier, Madelynn was planning to seize the chance to show how much Nathaniel loved her.

At the thought, she found Celeste cunning and vicious, using someone else’s money to boost her own image.
Celeste’s red lips curved into a dazzling smile, adding to her
charm and glam.
Nathaniel might have a hundred billion in liquid assets, but even ten of him couldn’t match her wealth.
He couldn’t help but notice the captivating smile on her face.
Her eyes were bright and crystal clear. Back then, she only
smiled like that when he was around.
As Nathaniel was about to bid again, Leon stopped him.
He whispered, “Nate, don’t. A month ago, I heard that the heir
of the Imperial Estate is back. A lot of collaborations will be
coming up. Remember your plans.”
Hearing that, Nathaniel glanced at Celeste and swallowed his
frustration.
There would be many chances for him to defeat Cater,
nevertheless.
Madelynn chimed in, acting all considerate, “Nate, let Ms. Hartley have her mc ent. You don’t have to spend so much money for me.”

She desperately wanted to outshine Celeste, but she knew she had to consider the bigger picture.
Celeste was clearly provoking him, and she couldn’t let
Nathaniel fall into her trap.
Nathaniel held back the urge.
In the end, Celeste won the violet diamond with a bid of three
billion dollars.
After finalizing the paperwork, she had her bodyguards take
the diamond to Quentin.
Then she headed straight for the parking lot.
As Celeste reached the gate, she overheard Leon speaking
around the corner.
Her eyes flickered as she paused to eavesdrop.
“Maddie, don’t be upset. Next time there’s an even better gem, I’ll make sure Nathaniel gets it for you.”
“He’s finally thinking straight, ditching that ice queen. You’re his one and only, you know? There’ll be better gems coming
your way.”

“Look, don’t worry about it. That poker–faced Celeste can’t
compare to you–you’re considerate and sweet. If Nathaniel hadn’t dated you first, I’d have made a move ages ago.”
“Remember our bet? I said Nathaniel and Celeste wouldn’t
last four years. Look, they split up now. You’re his true love. Celeste is just clueless, not even fit to tie your shoes.”
When she heard this, Celeste’s lips twitched slightly.
Leon was such a simp, kissing Madelynn’s a*s like that.
Celeste knew Nathaniel’s friends had always looked down on her.
The reason?
She was a small–town orphan coming from humble beginnings, abandoned by the Hartleys.
Meanwhile, in her eyes, those friends‘ of Nathaniel’s were pieces of trash.
“Leon, are you done?” Nathaniel snapped, anger evident in his voice.
“Oh, come on, Nate. Why so mad? I’m telling the truth, aren’t I? Luckily, you ended that miserable marriage. Otherwise,
Maddie this lovely beaut

Leon went on, “You’re way out of Celeste’s league. Leaving her is the wisest choice you’ve ever made.
“You didn’t even have the guts to announce your marriage. It
must’ve been tough for you over this past year.”
He never liked Celeste, always feeling that she was hiding something
And when Leon partied hard right in front of her and met her clear eyes, he felt like a total scumbag
“You”
Nathaniel’s eyes flickered in shock as he noticed Celeste walking toward them.
