Leon caught sight of Celeste as well.
What the…?
What’s going on?
For heaven’s sake!

Why was Celeste suddenly here? Didn’t she leave already?
Suddenly, Leon’s expression shifted drastically, as if he’d been struck by lightning.
But if she heard that conversation, maybe she’d finally give up
on Nathaniel.
Celeste observed the colorful display of emotions on Leon’s face, a smirk of disdain forming on her lips.
The atmosphere grew tense and eerily silent.
“Celeste, what are you doing here?” Leon took a step forward, This eyes filled with anxiety.
Nate slightly furrowed his brow at the way Leon addressed

her.

“Celeste, please let me explain. What you just heard was a misunderstanding…”
“A misunderstanding?” Celeste’s smile grew even more sardonic. “A cold woman? A fool? Classless? Not even fit to tie
Madelynn’s shoes?
“Leon, I knew you were a jerk, knew you were a pathetic sycophant, even knew you weren’t much of a man, but I didn’t expect you to be lower than an animal.
“Does humiliating someone really make you this happy?”
“Celeste, you…” Leon’s pupils suddenly dilated.
Celeste’s cold smile deepened. This pampered, untouchable young man was finally getting a taste of his own medicine. “Mr. Rochester, you look troubled. Did you know that the second porcelain is a fake? Maybe you should go flaunt your power somewhere else.”
Leon was stunned, disbelief etched on his face.
That porcelain, a fake? Impossible!
“Celeste, what do you know? That vase is from the previous dynasty, no way it’s a counterfeit.”

His grandfather had paid a hefty sum to bring it back from
abroad.

Celeste’s lips curled into a tantalizing smile. “It’s nice to see you so confident.”
She turned towards the staircase in the distance.
Since getting pregnant, taking the elevator made her nauseous. The constant up and down made her want to row
- up.
She didn’t look at Nathaniel, but Leon’s words gave her a painful clarity about why Nathaniel had never gone public with their marriage.
Her heart ached; she didn’t want to feel sad, but she couldn’t control the wave of sorrow washing over her.
“Leon, Celeste is just a country bumpkin. She knows nothing. Don’t take her words to heart.” Madelynn quickly chimed in, trying to win some favor with her overly sweet tone.
Leon was about to hurl some insults at Celeste when his assistant rushed over, looking alarmed.
“Sir, there’s a problem. The porcelain vase is indeed a fake, and the buyer is causing a scene at the auction.”

Madelynn felt a burning embarrassment on her face. How did Celeste figure that out?
Leon frowned, his playful demeanor vanishing as he hurried
toward the auction hall.
Madelynn turned around but noticed Nathaniel was gone, a
bad feeling creeping into her heart. Where did he go?
She was about to search for him when her phone rang.
“Dad.”
“Maddie, did you get the new product details from
Nathaniel?”
Thinking of the documents she had seen, greed glinted in Madelynn’s eyes.
“Dad, I’ve got them, and I’ve already found someone to take the fall. Don’t worry.”
Celeste reached the underground parking lot and headed
straight for her car.
Just as she was about to open the door, a strong hand gripped
her wrist.

She spun around, meeting Nathaniel’s intense eyes.
Her heart skipped a beat as she tried to shake off his hand. “Nathaniel, let go.”
But Nathaniel only tightened his grip, his gaze dark and foreboding, almost like a demon.

His other hand suddenly clutched her throat, trailing down to caress her delicate collarbone.
She always made him crave more. His deep, alluring voice was both intoxicating and dangerous. “Tell me, what’s your relationship with Carter Jameson?”
Celeste stared coldly at him. “Nathaniel, we’re already divorced. Whatever relationship I have with him is none of your business.
“Take your filthy hands off me.”
Nathaniel’s lips curled into a sinister smile, his voice low and laced with indifference. “Celeste, how desperate for a man must you be? How long have we just been divorced? And you’ve already latched onto another. Are you seriously going to tell me you didn’t betray me?”
“I didn’t! Nathaniel, I’m not as despicable as you. From the start, you were rotten to the core, marrying me on a bet. The

past year and more must have been such a burden on you.”
A flash of pain flickered in Celeste’s eyes as she swiftly gripped Nathaniel’s hands, her delicate fingers finding the points with practiced precision, and she pressed down hard.
Nathaniel felt a sharp pain shoot through his wrist, forcing him to release her.
The pain in Nathaniel’s heart spread as he looked at Celeste, his deep gaze filled with curiosity.
But Celeste didn’t give him a chance to speak. She got into her car and drove off.
Nathaniel stood there, his brows furrowed, watching as Celeste’s car disappeared from view.
He looked down at his hands, the sting from earlier slowly fading.
How did she do that?
Celeste… Why did she feel so unfamiliar?
