Chapter 28 Don’t Blame My Son
Celeste furrowed her brow as another scream pierced the air. She quickly stood up and moved towards the sound.
In the corridor ahead, a man had pushed a girl to the ground.
Celeste hesitated for a moment, then took out her phone to record the scene.
“Mia, don’t you forget, you’re an asthmatic woman. Marrying you was a favor on my part. If you don’t know your place and keep meddling in my affairs, don’t blame me for taking your life!”
The man, dressed in a sharp suit, was undeniably handsome with a slender and athletic build.
The girl on the ground looked at him in despair. “Travis Kensington, does my presence here embarrass you so much? Am I not pretty enough? Do you find me so shameful?”
Travis scoffed coldly. “Mia, you’ve been with me since college, and all you’ve done is serve my parents. You’re incapable of anything else of significar. I’m warning you, stay away from Ms. Adeline Shepherd and me. If I can marry her, I’ll divorce you. You can’t help me in my career, but Ms. Shepherd is

different. The Shepherds are the new elite in Kinston. You’re nothing compared to them.
“Do you know how hard it is for me to do business out there? Every day, I have to flatter and bow to others, drinking until I have stomach bleeds, just to get a small order. But if I marry Ms. Shepherd, things will be different. She can help the Kensington family flourish. I’ve already won her heart.
“Soon, she’ll be carrying my child. So stop bothering me. If you dare to come near me again, don’t blame me for being ruthless. You have asthma. Taking your life would be easy for
- me.
“Besides, with your condition, you can’t even have children. The Kensington family line can’t end with me. So stay put and
be obedient.”
With that, Travis kicked Mia and walked away.
“Ah!” Mia was in pain, angry, and helpless. Her heart ached as she watched the man, she had loved for five years be so
heartless.
Mia’s asthma suddenly flared up. Her chest tightened, and
her breathing became labored. “Travis… Travis, help me,
please, save me…”
“Stop shouting.” A richly dressed woman walked out.

Looking down at her with a mocking smile, she said, “Mia, you can only blame your poor family background for not being
able to help my son. Just let my son go. It’s better for you to die
like this with your asthma attack”
Mia’s heart was already breaking, and when she heard Melinda Kensington’s words, she rolled her eyes in anger and slowly collapsed.
She was wrong. After two years of a miserable life, she could finally let go.
Her husband’s infidelity and his mother’s malice… she brought it all on herself.
Seeing this, the woman hardened her heart. “Mia, blame your poor background. Don’t blame my son for your death.”
The woman left heartlessly.
This scene was familiar to Celeste. Fiona had said the same thing to her.
She was about to go over when she saw Madelynn approaching.
Celeste stopped again

Mia grabbed Madelynn’s skirt. “Miss, please save me, help…
me call an ambulance…”
Madelynn had no idea what was happening, but she was
in a rush to find Nathaniel, worried he might go looking for
Celeste.
“Get lost, you filth! How dare you touch my dress? Do you have
any idea how much this costs? Look at that cheap rag you’re
wearing, could you even afford to replace mine if you ruined
it?”
Madelynn kicked Mia, who shook in pain and slowly closed
her eyes.
Celeste frowned. So, these were Madelynn’s true colors.
Nathaniel must be blind!
After Madelynn left, Celeste hurried over, took a pill from her purse, and placed it in the girl’s mouth.
She then helped her sit up.
Her medicine worked quickly. A few minutes later, Mia slowly opened her eyes and saw Celeste. Tears still clung to her lashes. “Did you save me?”
Her voice w terribly hoarse.

Celeste looked at her pale, desperate face, feeling sympathy for her plight. “Yes. You have asthma and can’t get worked up. 1 gave you some medicine to ease your symptoms, but it’s not a cure. If you want to be fully healed, see me in six months.”
She offered hope for six months from now, hoping it would give Mia something to hold onto.
“It can completely cure your condition, and you’ll even be able to have children usually,” Celeste added.
“Really?” Mia perked up. She could really be cured completely!
“If you make it that long,” Celeste said, helping her stand.
Mia froze, then gave a bitter smile. “Did you see everything that just happened?”
