Billionaire’s Regret: Ex–Wife Becomes Heiress 1/5
Chapter 31 Escape
Celeste scoffed. “Confess? To what exactly?” She hadn’t
forgotten how this woman had just stood by and done nothing.
“Celeste, I know you’re upset, but does that give you the right to go on a killing spree?
“We’re supposed to be family. Aren’t you worried about tarnishing the Hartley name?” Madelynn put on a show of looking distraught.
Celeste felt sick to her stomach. “Ms. Hartley, you’re quite the actress.”
“You…” Madelynn, lost for words as usual when arguing with Celeste, was so angry her eyes were turning red.
Celeste’s patience had run out. She fixed Melinda with an icy stare and asked pointedly, “Who said Mia was dead?”
Melinda was taken aback. “What do you mean by that?”
Celeste continued, “Look at your phony faces. You claim she’s your relative, yet not one of you called for an ambulance. Instead, you jumped straight to asking if Mia was dead. Were

you counting on it?”

Melinda realized she was dealing with someone formidable.
She felt faint, nearly passing out.
She regretted being so hasty earlier.
Travis’s face paled. He blurted out, “You mean Mia’s still alive?”
“Coward. You can’t even admit she’s your wife!” Celeste snarled.
Travis crumpled to the ground in front of her.
Celeste was stunned into silence.
She looked up to see an imposing middle–aged man glaring
at her with fury in his eyes.
Connor glared at Travis with murderous intent, barely containing his fury.
“You goddamn son of a bitch. You’ll pay for this.”
He vowed not to let the Kensington family off easy for what they’d done to his precious daughter.
“Who the hell are you? Why are you hitting my son?” Melinda

charged at Connor like a madwoman after seeing her son
struck.

But before she could lay a hand on Connor, two bodyguards shoved her to the ground.
“Help! Murder! Someone call the police! They’re killing us!” Melinda wailed dramatically.
Connor looked at Celeste gratefully. “Thank you.”
Celeste helped Mia over to him and handed him a bottle of pills. “One pill a month. Come see me in six months to cure her asthma.”
“Thank you. I’ll bring Mia back when she’s better to properly express my gratitude for saving her life today.” Connor left carrying Mia.
Reflecting on the scene, he realized this girl who’d protected his daughter against a mob was no ordinary person.
Travis ignored his pain and chased after Connor. “Where… where are you taking Mia?”
Connor sneered, “Home, of course. As for you Kensingtons? You’re dead meat.”
Travis recoiled from Connor’s intimidating aura. “Who… who

are you?”

“I’m her father. Divorce papers will arrive within the hour. If he doesn’t sign, cut off his hand,” Connor ordered his bodyguard before leaving with his daughter.
Travis was left speechless.
Celeste returned to the party, pondering for a moment before sending a message to the number she’d just received.
[Mr. Rodriguez, if this marriage is hard to end, I’ve got evidence.]
She knew he wouldn’t have time to check his phone right now.
Not bothering to wait, she headed straight for Briar, who was standing nearby.
“Boss!” Landry suddenly popped up beside her.
A year older than Celeste, Landry had a broad forehead and handsome features, looking gentle and refined but actually a cunning fox.
Celeste gave him a lazy glance. “Don’t call me boss. Call me Assistant Hartley!”

Landry looked dumbfounded, shaking his head quickly. “Boss, I wouldn’t dare!”
