Celeste stopped in her tracks, eyeing Landry’s cheeky grin as
he claimed he wouldn’t dare.
“Really?” She gave him a skeptical look.
“Boss, if Sir Jameson finds out, he’ll break my legs. Have mercy!” Landry wouldn’t dream of calling her his assistant. That’d be asking for trouble.
Celeste smirked, “I could break your legs right now myself.”
She leaned in close, lowering her voice. “First, I’m back to investigate my background and Elias’s death. Second, I can only be your assistant for now. I’m carrying an heir, but no one can know except us. Got it?”
Landry’s mind went blank.
He hadn’t heard a thing.
“What heir?
Where?”
His eyes darted to her midsection. Her figure was flawless,

She looked stunning!
“Boss, which scumbag did this? I’ll end him right now.”
Celeste’s eyes were calm as she took in his shocked
expression. “Cool it. That doesn’t fit your CEO image. Be calm, reserved, official! Can’t you stand up straight?”
Landry felt like crying.
His legs were shaking!
Celeste shook her head. For all his billion–dollar deals, he’d always be that overgrown kid in her eyes.
“No need for that. Just remember, I’m your assistant. How many contracts did we land today?”
At the mention of work, Landry’s handsome face grew severe, a hint of wildness in his smiling eyes. “Boss, we’re pretty much done. Except for Mr. Rodriguez’s deal. Word is he had an emergency, so it didn’t go through. But he’s still our top priority.”
Celeste’s gaze turned pensive, her words slow but firm. “Mr. Rodriguez? You mean Rodriguez Group?”

“Yes!” Landry replied. Celeste didn’t dwell on it. “Let’s find a chance to sit down with Mr. Rodriguez soon. I’ll join you.”
Landry grinned. “Sure.”
Meanwhile, Madelynn spotted Celeste and Landry in deep conversation. She snapped a few pics before seeking out Nathaniel.
Celeste was playing the field. She’d show Nathaniel exactly what kind of woman she was.
Nathaniel had wrapped up with his partners and was chatting with Leon by the window.
“Nathaniel, there you are! Quick, look at this. Who’s this guy cozying up to Celeste?”
Madelynn handed her phone to Nathaniel.
The photo showed Celeste with her head slightly bowed and Landry’s lips near her ear. They looked intimate.
Nathaniel’s eyes darkened instantly, barely containing the storm of emotions. He smiled wickedly but said nothing.
Leon peeked at the screen and raised an eyebrow. “That’s Landry, CEO of Imperial Group.

“If Celeste knows Carter, she probably knows Landry too. Word is, when Imperial Estate’s heiress came back, she didn’t join the company. She made Landry CEO and stayed behind
the scenes.”
Madelynn turned to Leon, her voice soft and sweet. “Leon, who exactly is this Imperial Estate heiress? Everyone seems to hold her in such high regard.”
It wasn’t the first time she’d heard whispers about this mysterious figure.
Leon explained with a smile. “She’s quite the enigma. They say only her inner circle has seen her. Rumor has it she’s a prodigy with multiple doctorates. Imperial Estate owes its success to her and Mr. Jameson.
“They handle different territories. Carter manages international affairs, while she runs things domestically. Imperial Estate’s origins are shrouded in mystery too. She’s the woman I admire most. I’m actually trying to track her down myself. I want to win her heart.”
Madelynn teased, “Leon, you sure move on fast.”
Leon chuckled. A rare beauty was every gentleman’s pursuit, after all.
Madelynn furrowed her brow and her gaze was unreadable.
