Nathaniel nodded coldly. “Yeah.”
Leon was ecstatic. “Maddie, Nathaniel is really something! He even landed the deal with Imperial Group. Now we just need Mr. Rodriguez’s approval. I heard he didn’t show up today, so we’ll have to catch him another time.”
Madelynn’s face lit up at the news.
The Hartleys might be well–off, but they were no match for the Rowes.
If the Rowes secured this contract, the Hartleys could piggyback on it. They would be rolling in dough, too.
“I always knew Nathaniel was the best. Let’s grab a bite, I’m starving.” Madelynn cozied up to Nathaniel, linking her arm with his.
Nathaniel looked down, wrestling with his emotions. “Sure.”
As they headed toward the food court, they ran into Celeste and Briar, who were on their way out.
Celeste breezed past Nathaniel without a glance.

lurched, fighting the urge to reach for her, ultimately held back by the memory of that photo.
She was clearly thriving without him.
Celeste returned to her car, her mood unaffected by Nathaniel.

Celeste put down her phone and sat with perfect posture, flipping through the contracts Landry had signed that night. Her eyes darkened when she spotted the Rowe Group contract.

This day was bound to come sooner or later.
She quickly composed herself and answered, “Grandma.”
“Celeste, Fiona told me that scoundrel Nathaniel found
another woman and divorced you. Is it true?” Nora’s voice was filled with sorrow.
Celeste’s heart clenched, her grip tightening on the phone.
“Grandma, you found out.”
“You silly girl, no wonder you haven’t visited me in a month. Celeste, do you have time now? Can you come to see Grandma? You’re still you, divorced or not, you’re still my granddaughter.”
The loving voice made it impossible for Celeste to refuse.
Nathaniel was Nathaniel, and Nora was Nora.

Celeste hung up and turned to Briar. “Briar, let’s head to Rowe
Manor.”
“Sure thing,” Briar replied without question, starting the car.
Rowe Manor sat in an upscale neighborhood, not far from the Royal Estate, just three streets over, though the Royal Estate had the better location.

Celeste asked Briar to wait outside while she went in alone.
The mansion oozed luxury and grandeur. Two rows of expensive podocarpus trees flanked the entrance.
A servant opened the door upon seeing her arrive.
“Ms. Hartley, Madam Rowe is waiting for you upstairs,” the servant said respectfully.
Celeste nodded. “Thank you.”
