Chapter 35 No Shame
A familiar scent came. Celeste knew without thinking that it was Nathaniel.
Celeste forced herself to face Nathaniel. She looked at the man in front of her, both righteous and wicked, a man she had known for four years. It seemed like nothing was left behind.
The pain in her heart overwhelmed her. It hurt so much she could barely breathe.
Her voice was cold. “Nathaniel, let go,” she said.
Nathaniel looked at her. He gave a mocking smile. “Celeste, I didn’t see it. You have such big ambitions. You want my grandma’s shares,” he said.
Celeste’s heart suddenly ached. So, in Nathaniel’s eyes, this was what she was.
Betrayed and disheartened, she was now seen as a vain and greedy woman.
She really had misjudged him.
Her hand instinctively touched her lower abdomen. Her eyes

filled with coldness. Her tone was proud. “Nathaniel, I am someone you can never reach, no matter how hard you try. I don’t want a penny from you because I don’t care about it. So, if you need those shares, I can buy them and throw them in your face,” she said.
After Celeste finished speaking, she turned and walked away. Her bright eyes were filled with bloodshot veins. Her face was pale as paper.
Nathaniel’s expression was indifferent. He thought she was just trying to have no shame. “Celeste, let’s talk,” he said.
Celeste thought he was crazy. A few months ago, when he wanted a divorce, she had begged him to talk.
To talk about whether there was a problem or a misunderstanding between them?
But he had looked at her with disdain. “Celeste, there’s
nothing to talk about between us. It was just a joke. You’re not seriously attached, are you?” he said.
Celeste thought it was time to return those words to him today.
She turned her head. Nathaniel clearly saw her pale, bloodless face. For a moment, Nathaniel felt a pain in his heart that nearly suffocated him.

“Nathaniel, what is there to talk about between us? It was just a joke. We’re divorced now. You’re not seriously attached, are you?” she said.
“You… Celeste, you weren’t like this before,” he said.
Before, whatever he said, she would listen.
She wouldn’t be so defiant and aggressive like she was now.
“Oh!” Celeste raised an eyebrow and looked at him. She sneered. “What do you think I should be like? Or do you think that after the divorce, I should be crying, living in hell, to meet your expectations?
“Nathaniel, even in hell, I still have the right to look up at the sky,” she said.
In the most helpless two months, she had shed too many tears. From now on, she would never shed another tear for him.
“Your things are still in the villa. Go take them,” he said.
After he returned home, he realized that except for her personal belongings, she hadn’t taken anything.
She left the way she came.

These past four years, she had been like a passerby in his life.
It seemed that even without the divorce, one day, she would have left him.
“Those things were bought by you. None of them belong to me. I have no right to take them. Since you bought them, you handle them yourself. Whether you throw them away or burn them, it’s up to you,” she said.
“Celeste…”
“Enough, Nathaniel. We’re divorced. Why are you holding onto me?” Celeste said as she shook off his hand.
She understood clearly that even in pain, life had to go on. Time would only teach people to accept and comply.
She had walked out of the ruins of her breakdown. She would never let herself fall apart again,
Nathaniel looked at her cold eyes and asked, “Celeste, did you ever love me?”
Celeste found it ridiculous. Was there any point in asking such a question now?
Tears welled up in her eyes. “Nathaniel, I did love you! If I

didn’t love you, I wouldn’t have married you. In those
three years, you pursued me, I was very happy. Thank you for pulling me out of my lowest point. When you said our marriage was a joke, I was still grateful!

“In those three years, if it weren’t for your company, I would still be in the ruins of my breakdown. It was you who gave
me a second chance when I had lost all hope. So, I wish for a peaceful parting.
“No matter what your intentions were when you approached me, whether it was a bet with friends or sincere feelings, I don’t hold it against you. From now on, I wish you all the best,” she said.
Celeste turned around, full of pain. Her tears streamed down. She only understood after enduring the hardest days that time would let all regrets pass.
Watching her walk away step by step, his heart emptied.
