Try that, and I won’t quit my job.” Cassie warns.
3miliano grins at her. “Are you threatening me?”
‘No, I’m just saying that I have needs as a woman, just like you have needs as a man.”
‘Cassie, you need rest, and you know what happens when we get close.”
‘I know, and I love it. Making love to you is mind–blowing, it’s beyond amazing, and now you want to deny me the one thing I need
nost.”
“Cassie…” Emiliano is at a loss for words; he can’t describe how he feels right now. Does she always have to be so open and honest about her feelings? He’s never met a woman who expresses her emotions like Cassie does, and he doubts he ever will. “What am I supposed to do with you?”
“You could start by taking me home and making love to me until sunrise.”
Emiliano feels a jolt in his groin at her words. He can practically hear his blood pounding in his ears, the adrenaline rushing through h body. All he can picture is her, naked, calling out his name.

CASSANDRA
Emilio sure knew how to keep her satisfied. Cassandra lost count of how many times she climaxed in his arms, how many times she cried out his name. He didn’t give her a moment’s rest, and by the time dawn bruke, she was exhausted and thought she couldn’t handle another orgasm. When he finally held her close, she fell asleep right away.
When Cassandra wakes up, it’s late morning and her body is sore. She dared her husband, and he gave her more than she bargained for. His stamina and desire are unmatched–no wonder he had so many lovers before her. She’s learned her lesson, but she also enjoyed every second of it.
Cassandra pulls herself out of bed and heads to the bathroom. Emilio is nowhere in sight. He probably woke up early, even after spending the entire night pleasuring her.
She wonders how he does it. Doesn’t he ever get tired?
Suddenly feeling sick, Cassandra rushes to the toilet. Five minutes later, she’s cleaned up and standing in front of the mirror, splashing water on her face. She looks a mess. She can’t understand why her morning sickness is getting worse
“Are you okay?” Emilio asks from behind her.
Cassandra yelps and loses her balance, but luckily her husband catches her before she hits the floor. Standing up straight, she looks into his eyes. He looks so good, you’d never guess he’d been up all night. He even smells amazing.
“Good morning to you too,” Cassandra replies. “Why did you sneak up on me like that?”
“I didn’t mean to, but I’m sorry. Are you okay? You don’t look so good.”
His concern warms her heart, and she holds him tighter, loving the feeling of safety his arms provide.
“The nausea is getting worse. It’s more intense than when I was pregnant with Alex.”
“Have you told the doctor? Is that normal?”
“No, I’ll find out at my appointment next week.”
“We shouldn’t wait that long. You’re pale and look like you could faint any second. I’ll schedule an appointment for you now.”
“There’s no need to schedule anything; I’ll be fine. Where is Alex?”
“Please don’t argue with me, Cassie. I hate seeing you like this.” His hand caresses her cheek. “We’re going, and that’s final.”
“Why are you so controlling?” Cassandra asks.

“It’s for your own good and for the baby’s.” Emilio kisses her forehead. “Now, finish up breakfast is read peppermint tea up to help you feel better. It’s on your dresser,”
“Thank you. You’re so sweet–do you know that?”
He chuckles. “Most people would disagree.”
“I’m not most people; I’m your wife.”
“Lucky you.”
“Lucky me, indeed.” Stepping out of his arms, Cassandra gets a good look at him for the first time since waking up. He’s wearing jeans, a white T–shirt, and a leather jacket. “You look so fresh and handsome.”
“Don’t even think about it–you need rest.”
“I’m not thinking anything; I was just complimenting you.”
“Your body would disagree with you right now.”
“It’s so unfair… How do you always know what I’m thinking?”
Emilio pulls her back into his arms. “Because I know you. I know everything about you and this beautiful body of yours. And I also know there won’t be any more secrets between us, right?”

Cassandra thinks about his real father, but that’s not her secret to share. His mother will tell him when she’s ready. “Right,” she says.
“A relationship built on deception and lies doesn’t last, sweetheart. That’s why I’m always honest from the start about everything. I. hope there aren’t more surprises; if there are, now is the time to speak up.”
“I have nothing to hide. Now go so I can take a bath.”
Cassandra shoos him away, and once he’s gone, she whispers softly. “Please forgive me, Emilio, but it’s not my place to tell you who your real father is.”

Before her appointment, Cassandra chooses a green pencil skirt and a white blouse. She pulls her hair back into a bun and slips | high heels.
When she goes downstairs, Emilio says, “Cassandra, dear, you don’t look so good. Are you okay? Did you sleep well?”
Great. Clearly the makeup didn’t work
“I’m okay, it’s just morning sickness. The tea Emilio brought me helped.”
“Will you be able to eat? You should for the baby. Come sit down, and I’ll quickly make something for you.”
Cassandra grabs her mother–in–law’s hand before she can head into the kitchen. “You don’t have to. I’ll just have some toast and yogurt with a cup of tea; heavier food won’t go in.”
“You’re going to have to eat more than that,” Emilio says behind her. “You barely ate anything last night.”
“It’s the baby–he or she has turned my eating schedule upside down. The only time I can get something in is around midday. With Alex, it wasn’t so bad… I hardly had any morning sickness at all, and I didn’t get exhausted so quickly as I do now.”

“That’s why we’re leaving after you’re done eating.”
Where to?” Emilia asks.
“Doctor. To make sure everything is alright with Cassic and the baby.”
Emilia doesn’t react, but Cassandra can tell she is glad he finally knows. “I’m coming with you.”
“Mother…”
“Nothing you say is going to change my mind. I’m going to grab my purse.” She’s out the door before he can even respond.
Emilio turns to Cassandra. “Go ahead and eat.
“Can you quit bossing me around for a minute? I’m your wife, not your assistant. I must’ve been crazy when I said yes to marTVI
you.”
“Well, lucky for me you were,” he says, grinning, “or I would’ve missed out.”
Cassandra takes a bite of her toast. “I find that hard to believe. There’s a whole line of women ready to take my spot.” She meets his gaze. “And let’s be real, it’s only a matter of time before this sexual tension between us fizzles out. Then you’ll get bored of me and
move on.”
The thought breaks her heart, but she knows it’s the truth. He doesn’t love her and he never will. Once the desire is gone, there won’t be anything left between them.
Emilio looks right back at her, his face unreadable. He can see every emotion in her eyes, but his give nothing away. He’s got a real poker face.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of you. And I think there’s more between us than just lust and desire.” He pushes his chair back and stands. “Give me a call when you’re done eating.”
Cassandra wants to call him back right then, but what would she say? Their marriage was for Alex’s sake, and even though she loves him more than anything and wants to believe he’ll love her back someday, she’s not that naive. She might have a piece of him, but she’ll never have the one thing she really wants; his heart.
