Lucas said nothing, clearly waiting for me to admit my guilt.
The chatter around us grew louder, and even Mr. and Mrs. Taylor
looked at me with
concern.
Mrs. Taylor, bless her heart, tried to restore order, but everyone was
too engrossed in

The judgmental stares felt like hands stripping me of my dignity, leaving me exposed
and humiliated.
I couldn’t help but laugh, and Ava responded by throwing a glass of wine in my face.
