Chapter 10
Alpha Killian didn’t bother to hide. He crossed the other side of the room in a few mighty steps and yanked the door open. “Where is he?”
I don’t know where to look: at the Alpha King’s Beta‘ s surprised face or at the serious tone of my mate.
“Killian, go away. Or you’ll have another second round of beating,”
I warned.
“I don’t care,” he growled at me. He faced the Beta again. “I want to see this Rogue and end him myself.”
The Beta choked on a laugh. “It seems the Alpha King will end you faster when he finds out you disturbed his daughter again.”
They both turned to me, and I could only swallow as my eyes met. them. I jerked my chin to my father’s Beta. “Lead us to the Rogue.” He blinked in shock but didn’t say any further.
“Follow me. He’s in the Alpha King‘ s dungeons.”
‘Of course‘, Chenault whispered. “Where else will he be taken by your father?” I looked to my side, to my mate. To Deanna‘ s father. His face was so serious and solemn that for once, I thought he was just bluffing that he really cared about me and Deanna. Now that his fists. are tight on his sides as if he can already smell the Rogue from this far…maybe Deanna would have been alive if only Killian was there.
My father did not give any mercy to the Rogue.
There, hanging from the ceiling upside down, naked from toe to head, was the Rogue. I still remember those eyes as he dragged Deanna‘ s body away from me with his wolf as me and Chenault fought those two Rogues before us.
I let my wolf’ s snarl shake the dust from his skin.
“Sellyn,” the Alpha King’s eyes met mine and they smiled.
However, that smile was short–lived when it halted at the one behind me. He growled, “Killian,” he gestured to the Rogue, “perhaps you

would like to join your daughter’s murderer. After all, your ignorance and absence are as much as the cause of Deanna’s death as it was this Rogue‘ s bites.”
My mate inhaled a deep breath as if to shove all those raging emotions. down. “I am willing to end him myself, Alpha King.”
My father’s sarcastic but brutal laugh made all of us in the room. flinch. Even the Rogue straightened from where he was hanging. I was about to say more when my father cut in. “You just arrived in time. The Rogue was just about to confess everything after hours of our meticulous ministrations.” My father’s eyes darted to the various torture devices on the table. I think I’m going to vomit.
“Speak,” my father’s tone was nothing but pure command.
“It was her,” the Rogue started, blood spurting out his lips as he talked. “The daughter of the oldest Beta of the Silver River Pack.”
My heart was in my throat as I whispered, “Nichole?”
“Yes.”
Calm–I must stay quiet. I must keep my hands to myself or else I‘ 11 find them around this Rogue’s throat. I must let him speak further.
“Why? How?”
“We, the Rogues…we were only ordered to kill one: Alpha Killian‘ s daughter. We refused at first as we wouldn’t dare harm a child. But she insisted. She–she threatened us. She said that the goal of the attack was simple: distract the other packmembers as we made sure the child was dead. And after that, she‘ 11 take care of the rest.” Beside me, Killian was silent. Eerily silent. I don’t know if he was holding his breath or if he was still breathing at all.
I straightened. “Why would she harm her lover‘ s daughter?”
“She wants to be the Luna,” the Rogue revealed. I folded my hand to a fist but my father simply put his hand on my shoulder as if to remind me to let the Rogue keep going. “She wants the Alpha alone. She cannot arrange your death easily as you are the Alpha King‘ s daughter so she figured out that the child is an easier target–and at

quicker way to shatter your family.”
“She’s cunning,” my father turned to Killian. By the look of the Alpha King, he‘ d rip Killian to pieces if only I wasn‘ t in the same. room as them.
“She doesn’t only want to be a Luna. She wants the pack and him,” the Rogue pointed a broken finger at my mate.
Then there was utter silence, as if it took several moments for us in the room to process the revelations.
“Release him,” I ordered my father’s Betas. Even the Rogue blinked. “If what you say is true, then I‘ ll allow you to walk away here alive–in one condition.”
My father sensed that I had a better plan for this Rogue than simply spilling his guts on the dungeon floor and he just allowed me. With a wave of the Alpha King‘ s hand, the Rogue dropped from the ceiling with a thud. A groan escaped from his bruised lips.
I crouched down and lifted his battered face with my thumb. “Listen to me carefully and obey what I said.”
Dawn was an hour away, but I knew this would all be over before the sky broke into the early shades of day.
I instructed the Rogue to send word to Nichole to come meet him in the forest, telling her he had escaped and he needed her help.
If what the Rogue says is true, then Nichole will no doubt come for him–ensuring he didn’t say anything about their scheme.
The Alpha King and his Betas used my father’s magic to render themselves undetected, cloaking themselves in the foliage and bark of
trees.
Me and Killian remained atop a very tall tree where its leaves hid us from being spotted by anyone down below.
Killian still didn’t say a word–as if realizing how much of a mess he had been when he spent half of his life with Nichole, only for her to betray him not once, but twice. Maybe more.

That sadness returned, flowing into my heart again like a river with a raging current. Those seven days of healing myself have been a waste. It just opened to more sorrow, more tears to shed, more anger.
Being here, I felt lifeless. Waiting for the mastermind of Deanna‘ s murder drifts me back to reliving Deanna’s final moments. Her last laugh as she played with water and her last scream of anguish as the Rogue dragged her away.
Beside me was Killian… and I don’t know who looked worse: him or the Rogue.
I don’t know if Killian was still acting. I don’t know if his silence is his
way of manipulating me that he shared my anger with Deanna’s death and this Rogue. If we also share the same fury with what
Nichole has done and planned.
In the past, I tried everything to keep him in my life but he just kept ignoring me. Now that I no longer wanted him, now that I no longer needed him…he presented his new self and profound love to me with his sweet words and consistent begging.
I drag my gaze away from him. He made me sick.
It was now clear to me. I will never welcome him back now that love and hate have collided–there are no longer lines blurring between them.
Love and hatred are now one and fucking the same.
