The’night reverberated with the loudness of my slap. I inhaled a sharp breath as I stared at her shocked eyes and she stared back at my raging soul.
Her porcelain skin reddened as if it was burned with a flame. Nichole lifted her hand to her cheek, stifling a cry.
“Please–I’m sorry, Luna!” she begged and faked her tears and crying. I could tell it as it was rain streaming down her face.
With her sobbing voice, the Head Doctor and Filippa appeared. Their faces were alarmed and frozen with worry. It was Filippa who spoke. “I’m sorry, Luna. We finished cleaning Deanna and left her for a second with Nichole since she offered to watch over her, but the moment we returned, the smell of a burning corpse mingled in the air already. She was cremating Deanna’s body and we couldn’t do anything but watch!”
My heart was throbbing, my fists ready to beat Nichole until the whole ground of the Silver River Pack was red with her blood. I no longer cared about the funeral–all I want now is to beat Nichole with all my strength and anger!
“Stop being an innocent, bitch. Just admit it you really want me and my daughter gone from Killian‘ s life so that you can have him again!”
“What are you talking about?” she gasped, her face a portrait of fake female innocence.
Her expression made my blood boil. I let her see Chenault‘ s glowing eyes and unsheathed my claws again, ready to tear her face into pieces.

“Stop it, Sellyn!” Killian held my hand, his voice imploring.
“That’s enough. Nichole hasn’t done anything wrong. There must be some sort of misunderstanding here.”
“Misunderstanding?” I choked. But Killian’s face now radiated with
anger.

Whether the Alpha was furious at me or at Nichole, I couldn’t tell. But there was unspeakable fury in his eyes.
I lowered my hand and my claws retracted. But then, my other hand. was as fast as lightning when it hit Nichole’s face in a mighty slap once again.
She hadn’t even yet recovered when I pulled her hair and shook her, shoulders.
I will beat this bitch no matter what!
“How can you do this to us, Nichole? How can you burn my daughter’s body when you have already seduced my mate so that he’ll be away from us!” The wind howled. Perhaps I am too. “YOU KILLED HER, NICHOLE! YOU DESTROYED OUR FAMILY!”
I was shrieking, my tears wildly falling from my face. The rain poured again, this time harder. The thunder made its presence louder than usual and it even drowned Nichole’s bawling.
“SELLYN–PLEASE, STOP!” Killian was now scolding me but I ignored him. I pushed him away from us that he tumbled to the ground near Deanna‘ s urn.
One moment, my mate is begging my forgiveness. Now, he’s defending
his mistress?
What a fool.
“I’m sorry, Luna! I didn’t mean it!” But I didn’t hear any of Nichole’s fake apologies. I know deep down, she’s happy this happened. She’s happy that I showed what kind of Luna I am before the pack: one who beats a well–respected Beta‘ s daughter.
But I no longer care what they think. She disrespected my daughter. She burned her. I could have hugged my Deanna’s little body one last
time.
Instead, my mate’s mistress burned her to ashes, to dust. No trace of her serene little face, her bluish silver dress, and moon tiara.
“Sellyn.” Killian called to me as soon as he was on his feet. But I only pointed a finger at him, my voice filled the entire cemetery. “Go

fuck her yourself, mate.” I spat the last word with disgust. “There will be no forgiveness here, only vengeance to a Beta‘ s daughter-” I looked down at Nichole beneath my brows, “who tried to seduce a married and mated Alpha and burned his daughter‘ s body like some carcass of a wild animal to spite me, the Luna and Alpha King‘ s daughter.”
Then, my feet found themselves walking away from them. Step by step by step.
No one stopped me, not even Beta Hestia or Beta Lucas.
In the blink of my eye, the Alpha King‘ s Beta stopped his car before. me. I slightly turned to Nichole who bit her lower lip, looking
unwilling yet a hint of victory shone in her eyes.
I
gave her a glare as cold as the winter rain and spoke softly, “Alpha Killian is all yours now. No one wants to be with a mate who abandoned his daughter just to be with his mistress anyway.”
And then I turned to my mate. For one last time. “If she breaks your heart again, don‘ t come crying to me. I will just smirk at you. Don’t ever show your face on my father’s pack ever again.”
When Nichole broke up with him, he pleaded with my father for my hand in marriage. Now, if he ever dares again, I’ll definitely send back his head to Nichole.
I walked inside the car, tucking in all the happy memories that we just had hours ago from Deanna’s birthday party.
I could feel Killian’s tearful gaze as the car drove away.
But I never looked back.
